How to Tigerfish on the Zambezi

    • 1). Research tigerfishing vacation packages. Choose a package that fits your needs and budget, and book your ticket. Tigerfishing is at its best from September through April, summertime in the southern hemisphere. You will need a valid passport and may require a visa. Find out if it is necessary to take precautions against malaria, and get any other necessary inoculations.

    • 2). Purchase the equipment you will need that is easily transportable. A fishing rod is not easy to transport, and you may be better off hiring or buying one in Africa. Do not include knives or fish hooks in your hand luggage. Pack comfortable clothing in neutral colors, and do not forget your swimsuit and sensible shoes.

    • 3). Use the equipment provided by the fishing safari company, if you would rather not carry your own. The safari operator will usually provide everything you need, including a boat and an experienced guide. You can choose if you want to go after your tigerfish by fly-fishing, spinning, trolling or drift baiting. Get ready for an experience you won't forget.
