We had a robust premortal life. We lived with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and prepared to come to earth. Important decisions and alliances were made there.

Mortality and the Beginning of Earth Life

The Garden of Eden was created for Adam and Eve to live in. After their fall, they were both completely mortal and subject to death.

Jesus Christ and His Mortal Ministry

Jesus played a crucial part in the premortal life. We all must understand His purpose and responsibilities while He was here in mortality. He established His true church when he walked the earth. Later He restored His gospel and reestablished His true church in our modern day.

The Modern Church

When Jesus Christ restored His gospel to the earth through Joseph Smith, He required a modern church to be set up exactly like His original church.

Principles, Ordinances and Covenants of the Gospel

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints make promises, called covenants with Heavenly Father. They demonstrate that they have made covenants by performing an ordinance, like baptism.

Heavenly Father's Earthly Commandments

There are numerous things we are supposed to believe and work atwhile we live on earth. We have to have bodies in order to do this. Much of it involves making covenants and performing ordinances, for ourselves and others.
