Amsterdam is the capital city of the Netherlands and has a temperate climate that makes it perfect for visiting all year round. Due to the city's inland location, it requires about 30 minutes to an hour to get to a nearby beach. There are many centrally-located hotels in Amsterdam that are within an hour's drive of the beach, and also offer convenient access to the many wonders and attractions of the historic city. - Sofitel Amsterdam The Grand Hotel is a five-star facility located in the heart of downtown Amsterdam. The hotel is within walking distance of the Van Gogh Museum, Anne Frank's House and the Royal Palace. The Grand fuses old-world architecture with contemporary design to create a space that is both classical and modern. Rooms will have a view of either the courtyard, the inner gardens or the canals. The closest beach to the hotel is Zandvoort. It is about a 30-minute drive from the hotel. You can also get there by train. The spring and summer months are the best times to visit for idyllic beach conditions.
- Hotel Okura Amsterdam is nestled on the banks of the Amstel Canal. This five-star facility is the recipient of the 2010 Netherlands' Leading Business Hotel Award. A contemporary theme runs throughout the hotel; the design aesthetic is modern but minimalistic. The hotel's champagne and cocktail bar, which are located on the 23rd floor, offer scenic views of the city. Hotel Okura Amsterdam is within walking distance of the RAI Congress and Exhibition Center and about a 15-minute drive from the Schipol International Airport. If you need to catch a taxi or tram, you can do so right in front of the hotel, and a trip to the Zandvoort area beaches will take approximately 40 minutes by car.
- A former bank, the Banks Mansion Amsterdam opened its doors to the public in 2004. It is located on the Herengracht Canal, and the hotel's decor was inspired by architects Frank Lloyd Wright and Berlage as well as The Amsterdam School. The hotel, in keeping with the tradition of a grand house, refers to it's lobby as The Living. Guests feel as if they are in a living room, and can enjoy glasses of wine while their children munch on snacks in this area. The breakfast room is called The Kitchen and is open to guests so they can watch their breakfast being made. The closest beach to the Banks Mansion Hotel is the Noordwijk beach, which is about a 45-minute ride by car. The beach is approximately 37 miles from the hotel.
