- 1). Use poles to hold the center of the tent up. These poles can be broom handles specially bought for the project, or actual broom or mop handles appropriated for the job. Secure the poles to the bed frame or head board by lashing it with rope. Duct tape could also be used to secure a pole to a solid headboard or bed frame, as long as the tape is used on the backside. Duct tape will damage the wood's finish, so do not use on the visible side of the furniture.
- 2). Drape a large sheet over the two poles, allowing the sides to hang over the edge of the bed. Use a sheet that is at least one size larger than the bed for the best results--for example, use a full or queen sheet on a twin bed.
- 3). Clamp the sheet to the corners of the headboard and foot board, or use clothes pins or safety pins to pin the sheet to the corners of the mattress. Leave one corner free to allow entry to the tent.
