Environmental Safety Training

    Scope

    • Safety training focuses on primary, secondary and tertiary methods of environmental protection. This includes such areas as green infrastructure guidelines, working with asbestos, lead awareness and residential green building design and construction. Courses in specific areas of environmental conservation include hazardous waste principles and identification, the Clean Water Act, the Resource Conservation Recovery Act and spill prevention, control and countermeasures.

    Location

    • Environmental safety agencies provide several options for instruction, including online training with proctored examinations, classroom study and on-site training and testing administered by Environmental Protection Agency-certified instructors.

    Duration and Cost

    • Program lengths vary, and can last from two hours for a survey course in asbestos training, to five days for lead-related construction manager training. Program fees also vary depending on a number of factors. On-site training program fees are calculated according to class size and location, whereas conventional programs taught in a classroom and empirical environment range in cost from $80 to $640, as of October, 2010.
