How to Attach Macrame to a Ring
- 1). Cut the hemp into two pieces of equal length. As an example, to make a key chain of approximately 8 inches, cut two pieces of hemp 3 yards long. The hemp will greatly reduce in length, so it is better to cut your cords too long and then cut them shorter than to have them too short to begin with.
- 2). Fold the cord in half, creating a loop. Take the two ends that you have joined and feed them through the ring, back over the ring and through the loop at the opposite end of the cord. Pull the two ends taut. You now have two ends of the hemp cord hanging from the ring.
- 3). Create the same knot with the second piece of hemp on the same section of the ring so that all four ends hang down next to one another. Now you are ready to begin knotting the cords to create your macrame pattern.
