Wine - What Are the Health Benefits?

Wine used to be highly priced for its healing qualities from the down of time.
When there were no antiseptics around, doctors used to prescribe wine as medicine.
However, we know that nowadays we have all the medicines we need and more, so does wine can still bring health benefits for us today? Research findings have revealed that wine may prevent heart attacks, strokes and other cardio-vascular diseases, because of properties which help prevent clogged arteries and blood clots.
This is due to the anticoagulant effect of wine and the fact that it can boost HDL, also called good cholesterol.
Wine also acts as antioxidant which reduces the amount of fatty deposits that can stick to the walls of our arteries.
Wine may also reduce some form of cancers and help mental alertness in older people.
As almost all lovers of wine know, it can also be a relaxer and a stress reducer.
Of course, the health benefits of wine are working only with a moderate consumption of this wonderful multi-use drink.
Any abuse of alcohol which is contained in wine will not only eliminate all its benefits, but add to other health problems.
So, always remember that like just about everything else, moderation is the key to take full advantage of wine.
A note of advice to take full advantage of the benefits of wine is to stick to the same kind at a time.
Mixing wines tend to have an increased intoxicating effect, even if you were to drink twice as less of it.
Therefore it is best if you stick to all red or all white within one meal.
If you do mix wines, then be prepared to drink less.
Instead of drinking a full glass, make sure that you drink only half a glass of each kind or less.
Enjoy wine and take full advantage of this great beverage that lights up your meal while helping you to stay healthy when consumed with moderation.
