Do It Yourself Spice Racks
- 1). Remove the lids from the spice jars and set the jars aside. Rub the sandpaper back and forth on the top of each jar lid to make the surface more receptive to adhesive.
- 2). Sand one side of each of the magnets to roughen the surface for better adhesion.
- 3). Apply several drops of epoxy adhesive to one jar lid, put the rough side of one magnet on the dab of epoxy and press firmly. Set it aside to dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions. Repeat the process on all the jar lids.
- 4). Attach the metal knife rack to the desired surface under a cabinet, following the rack manufacturer's instructions.
- 5). Write the spice or herb name with a marker on an adhesive label and put one on the side edge of each lid or on the side of each spice jar.
- 6). Roll a piece of paper into a funnel shape. Fill the spice and herb jars, using the paper funnel. Twist the appropriately labeled lid on each jar as you go along.
- 7). Attach each jar to the metal knife rack by placing the magnet against it. Adjust the jars on the rack so that the labels are visible. The magnetic force between the metal rack and the magnets on the jar lids keeps the jars hanging solidly in place.
