How to Wear Legwarmers
- 1). Pair them with some skinny jeans. This is a great way to add some color to your outfit. Just remember that your legwarmers add color and texture to your outfit, so keep it subtle in your choice of jeans and top. A good pick would be a dark hued pair of skinny jeans and a solid colored top with a cool cut, like something off the shoulders and flashy jewelry. Finish this outfit off with a pair of flat shoes (ballet flats are always a good option here) and your legwarmers to complete a fun and sassy style. You could also opt for a pair of boots with a nice, chunky heel for something a bit more sophisticated.
- 2). Never wear more than one pair of legwarmers at a time. In the '80s, people were known to double or triple up on legwarmers. This is not only a bad style choice, but also one that would shoot up your body temperature significantly. Stick with one pair at a time to avoid making your legs look bigger than they are.
- 3). Use them to add some spice to a funky mini skirt or dress. Donning this type of look requires you to do exactly the opposite of what you would do when pairing legwarmers with jeans. This time, wear a solid pair of legwarmers with a printed dress. This adds a hint of extra pizazz to your skirt or dress. Again, complete this outfit with a pair of flats or boots. High heels are another good choice, but never, ever wear legwarmers with sneakers. More often than not, you end up looking sloppy and juvenile instead of stylish and sophisticated if you wear sneakers.
- 4). Get smooth and sleek legwarmers. Gone are the bulky knit legwarmers that were so popular 20 years ago. Today's legwarmers are made more for fashion than function. Look for light cottons and spandexes that look funky while still showing off the nice shape of your legs. This is particularly significant when you are pairing legwarmers with jeans; it is not quite as important when adding legwarmers to a skirt ensemble.
