Parental Rules for Daycares

    Payments

    • Pricing is very important to parents when deciding which daycare to choose. Key points to consider are the weekly cost, available payment plans and aftercare costs. Once parents receive this information and agree to it, they will be required to follow it. While many daycare facilities will work with parents through hardships, payments should generally be on time, and if not, the stipulated penalty should be expected.

    Illness

    • Most parents would rather not see their child take ill. This could mean time off, and in many instances, money lost from the household. Still, daycares do impose certain requirements upon parents related to sick children. If a child is sick, running a fever or contagious, most daycares will ask parents to keep that child at home so other kids will not catch what he has. Such a rule protects the daycare from certain liabilities, especially if a serious illness is floating around.

    Hours of Operation

    • Daycares understand the constantly fluctuating schedules of working parents. This is why early hours and aftercare programs exist. However, parents must remember there are fees associated with hours of operation. Typically, the standard fee covers the standard hours of operation. For parents who need to drop their children off early, a separate fee is required. Parents who need their children to stay late will also pay a separate fee.

    Behavior

    • As with schools, daycares will often aid in the discipline of children. However, there is a certain level of discipline from parents that should carry over from home. These rules include no biting, fighting, pushing, stealing, cheating or lying. Many daycares will impose a punishment upon each offense and even send children home for the most serious offenses.
