The MIDI Keyboard Is Not Working With VoicePrism
- 1). Assign the proper MIDI channel to the channel to which your keyboard is set. If your keyboard operates on MIDI channel 3, for instance, and you have the Voice Prism set to listen only on MIDI channel 2, you will not get a signal from the keyboard. Press the "Utility" button once to access the "MIDI" heading and use the data wheel on the front panel of the Voice Prism to assign the proper MIDI channel. The Voice Prism and most MIDI keyboards default to MIDI channel 1, so if you are not sure which your keyboard is assigned to, set both to 1 and check to see if the Voice Prism is now receiving a signal.
- 2). Reset the MIDI cable that attaches the Voice Prism to the MIDI keyboard by first powering off the Voice Prism and the keyboard, unplugging the MIDI cable at both sides, plugging both sides back in and powering both devices back on. This simple cable reset is often all that is needed to force a MIDI device to receive a MIDI signal.
- 3). Replace the MIDI cable you are currently using with a new one. At this point, the most likely culprit is a MIDI cable that has simply gone bad. Replace with a new one and plug it in using the procedure detailed in Step 2. If still no signal is found, either the Voice Prism or the MIDI keyboard is malfunctioning and will need to be serviced.
