  DarkSyde Acres Haunted Campground is a Michigan campground located in Hillsdale County approximately five miles north of Jonesville and just over a mile from Mosherville. Close to both the Indiana and Ohio state borders, the rustic campsite and adjacent DarkSyde Acres Haunted House are set on 38 acres with over 70,000 square feet of indoor haunted house attractions. In addition to the attractions, according to the DarkSyde website there have been reports of supernatural events, and witnesses say the location is really haunted.
  
  

Features

• Features at DarkSyde Haunted House include scare tactics by costumed actors and Hollywood-style effects, which were built by the award-winning special effects team at Bodybag Entertainment. Names of the attractions include the Dark Abyss, which features the ghosts of Captain Carcass and his not-so-merry band of pirates; the Rusthole, a pitch-black maze with strobe lights and creatures leaping out at patrons from all angles; the Catacombs, an underground labyrinth full of zombies; and the Zombie Massacre, where you team up with a SWAT team to shoot zombies in the graveyard . . . unless they get to you first.
  
  

Special Events

• DarkSyde is located 20 minutes west of the NASCAR International Speedway in nearby Brooklyn, Michigan. During Sprint Cup Series race weekends, the campground features a Morning Flea Market/Swap meet, an Afternoon Car Show, and an Evening Hog Roast each Saturday. Also, DarkSyde hosts a Mardi Gras party on the first race weekend in June.
  
  

Campground Fees and Availability

• The campground is open on race weekends only during the summer, then every weekend during "haunt season" from September through Halloween. As of June 2010, a one-night stay costs $35 and two- to three-night stays are $25 a night. Pets are not allowed. Each of the primitive campsites has a fire pit, firewood is available for sale, and the campground provides vault toilets.
  
  

Haunted House Schedule and Tickets

• The haunted house and box office are open from 6:45 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and from 6:45 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Sundays. Regular tickets for the haunted house are $20. VIP tickets are $30. There is no discount for children, but there are discounts for groups of 15 or more.
