How to Gem a Survival Hunter for Maximum DPS
- 1). Fill any red sockets in your gear with "Delicate Inferno Ruby." It provides 40 agility. Agility is by far the most important stat for any hunter, and there is nothing else that should go in your red sockets. If, however, you are a jewelcrafter, you should use three "Delicate Chimera's Eye." These jewelcrafter-only gems provide 67 agility each.
- 2). Fill any yellow sockets with "Deadly Ember Topaz," providing 20 agility and 20 critical strike rating. "Adept Ember Topaz" is also good, providing 20 agility and 20 mastery rating. "Deft Ember Topaz" is suitable, but not ideal, providing 20 agility and 20 haste rating.
- 3). Fill any blue sockets with "Glinting Demonseye." This purple gem provides 20 agility and 20 hit rating, hit rating being an important secondary stat for boosting your damage considerably.
- 4). Fill your meta socket with an "Agile Shadowspirit Diamond." Providing 54 agility and a 3 percent increase in damage done by critical hits, this is the only meta gem you should be considering for maximizing your damage output.
- 5). Place "Smooth Cogwheel" and "Quick Cogwheel" in your cogwheel sockets. Note that only engineers will have these sockets. There are two of them on engineer-made level 85 helms. These gems provide 208 critical strike rating and 208 haste rating respectively.
