How to Make a Roller Paint Shield

    • 1). Take the brush sponge off the roller paintbrush frame.

    • 2). Place a plastic coffee can lid or the front of a cereal box on a cutting mat.

    • 3). Make a 3-to-5-inch incision down the center of either material with a utility razor knife. You want a long enough incision to slip the roller brush frame through the opening while still retaining snugness. A roller brush frame can be as large as 9 inches and as small as 6 inches. You want your incision in the plastic lid or cereal box cover to be roughly half the size of the roller brush frame, because you will slip the frame sideways through the incision.

    • 4). Pick up the roller brush frame and slip it sideways through the incision in the plastic lid or cardboard cereal box cover. Once the frame is all the way through the incision sideways, turn the roller brush toward the front so that it sits flush against the lid or cardboard.

    • 5). Place the brush back on the frame. You are ready to begin painting.
