Ecuador Travel Requirements

    Passport

    • You must have a passport with at least six months validity in order to enter Ecuador.

    Return

    • Travelers must be able to show proof of onward travel or return, such as a round-trip airline ticket.

    Visas

    • Those who intend to stay in Ecuador beyond 90 days will need to obtain a non-immigrant visa from one of Ecuador's embassies or consulates prior to departure (see Resources). This typically applies to students, teachers, missionaries and volunteers, as well as others who have extended business in the country.

    Vaccinations

    • Travelers who have just come from an area with a high instance of yellow fever may need to present proof of vaccination.

    Departure Tax

    • An airport departure tax is charged prior to leaving Ecuador. Note that Ecuador uses U.S. dollars as its official currency.
