Bar Tomás Barcelona
Bar Tomás is one of Barcelona's most popular tapas bars. Located on Sarrià's Carrer Mayor, Bar Tomás is justly famous for its simple, traditional, delicious tapas, and is always bustling with customers. It's what is known locally as a 'bar autentico', an authentic bar.
This authenticity is due to family recipes, an unchanging, unpretentious decor - marble tables, tiled floor and old pictures - and brisque, informal, friendly service.
Then there are the patatas bravas, whose spicy tomato sauce has a carefully-guarded secret recipe. Bar Tomás's bravas are so tasty they're rumoured to be Spanish king Juan Carlos I's favourite.
Also worth ordering are the boquerones (anchovies marinated in oil, lemon and garlic), the chorizo sausage and the bonito con piminientos picantes (tuna with spicy peppers). Together with a refreshing caña of beer, a tableful of tapas shouldn't set you back more than 10-15€ a head.
Bar Tomás has two sizeable - and rather noisy - salons. Outside, there's a terrace on the streetfront.
