It is Possible to Have a Lucid Dream?

To have a lucid dream is the greatest wish of a lot of people, especially people who are plagued by nightmares, or by uncomfortable or even threatening experiences.
Some would be delighted to be able to have a lucid dream and to sort out all their problems.
Others would just love to have the experience.
What is a lucid dream? It is when you are self-aware during your dream.
You suddenly become aware during your dream and can therefore control your own actions.
And of course, because it is a dream, what you decide to do is limited only by your own sub-conscious mind.
Go flying or go and swim underwater without any breathing apparatus - it can all be yours.
We dream for a reason.
No-one knows precisely why we do it, but it is a general consensus that we learn during our sleep, or our mind uses the time to collate new information and experiences we have had and consolidate them.
If we are going through hard times or emotional experiences then our dreams can get very troubled or disturbed.
There are many techniques to be able to have a lucid dream.
These must be practised over and over again until they almost become second nature.
Firstly, become aware of your dreams.
As soon as you wake up, write down as many details of your dreams as you can from the previous night.
Do this night after night until you start to recognise the patterns and lyrics of your dreams.
Is there anything which recurs? Are there any special symbolisms that you see every time? Make a note of even the most seemingly insignificant details.
Next, condition yourself to become aware in your dream.
One technique which many people try to use is the hand method.
The way this works is that you look at your hands before you go to sleep and think to yourself that in your dream, if you look at your hands you will know you are dreaming and be able to control your actions from then.
Imagine what it would be like to be master of your own dreams!
