While many times people will hate dog barking they might not realize that at times they will want to have them exhibit this mannerism.
I know for me I do not like it when my dog decides that he wants to do this at various times, but you have to remember that at certain times you will want to have them bark.
For some people they might be puzzled and asking what the scenario would be when you want your pet to display this behavior, but here is the main reason why I want my pet to voice his opinion.
The main reason that I will want my dog to bark is when someone is breaking into my home.
Now I know that if he doesn't know the person my pet is normally standoffish already, but when it is a stranger coming into the home when no one is home or I am sleeping he does this to alert me or scare the person that is breaking into my home.
If that is the case then I would definitely want to encourage this behavior in my pet at this time, but normally I would not.
If you are trying to train your pet to do just that behavior you will want to try to figure out how to train him to do this.
The best way that I found to do this is by not letting him bark at my friends or other people that I do not want him to do this to, but if a strange person came to the door I would let him bark constantly.
That way he would get used to people I wanted to have over, but not the strangers that I didn't know.
