How to Draw a 2-D Version of a Ford Mustang

    • 1). Use your pencil to draw a grid to mark the placement of the major parts of the Mustang. For a side view, draw four horizontal lines: one short line at the top to mark the roof, one long line to mark the hood, bottom of the window and top of the trunk, another long line to indicate the top of the wheels, and the final long line to mark the bottom of the body and center of the wheels. Divide the horizontal lines equally by drawing three vertical lines.

    • 2). Sketch the hood, roof and trunk area of the Mustang using your grid lines and source photo for guidance. Continue giving shape to the car by drawing the fenders, side panels and the outlines for the side window. Sketch two circles for the tires, and remember that the bottom of the car’s body marks the center of the tires.

    • 3). Draw in the details of the car. Many Mustangs have grooves running along the sides of the car. Use your source photo to judge where to draw these grooves. Also draw the door handle and tighten up the details of the window, fenders and door. Don’t forget to draw the Mustang logo.

    • 4). Go back to the tires and draw the rims. You may want to give the tires white walls or draw the tire logos, if applicable.

    • 5). Erase your grid lines and any stray marks or mistakes.
