Deer Creek Run Cabins in Hocking Hills, Ohio

      Golf, swim, hike, fish and canoe in the hills and woods of southern Ohio while staying in a rustic cabin at Deer Creek State Park 30 minutes south of Columbus and east of Hocking Hills. With more than 2,337 acres, this state park offers a 350-acre, 18-hole golf course with 52 sand traps and 10 ponds. Deer Creek Lake takes up more than 1,200 acres and includes a 1,700-foot swimming beach. As a resort park, Deer Creek has a modern lodge, cabins, RV sites and tent sites for visitors planning overnight stays. In addition, activities at the park include snowmobiling, miniature golf, bridle trails, nine miles of hiking trails, nature programs and a nature center.

    Standard Cottages

    • Reserve one of the 25 cottages available for rent at Deer Creek Park and enjoy an inexpensive family vacation in a scenic setting. Each cabin sleeps up to six people and offers two bedrooms, a full bathroom with a shower, living room with sofa bed, dining area, screened porch, linens, bath towels, coffee maker and complete kitchen with microwave and eating utensils. Satellite TV, a charcoal grill, fire pit and coffee maker are a few of the standard features. Housekeeping is not provided for these cabins. Check-in time is 4:30 p.m. and guests check out at 10 p.m. Each cottage has specific parking spaces. Pets are allowed in certain cottages. Reservations may be made up to a year in advance.     Historic Harding Cabin

    • Give your kids a a chance to experience history by staying in the historic Harding Cabin at Deer Creek State Park. The cabin, originally called "The Shack," is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and was built during World War I by U.S. Attorney General Harry Daugherty who served under President Warren G. Harding. Built on the banks of Deer Creek, this 1-1/2-story cabin was a favorite retreat for President Harding. The State of Ohio has restored and updated the cabin so families and businesses may reserve the retreat for vacations and conferences. The Harding Cabin offers lodging for eight people, a large living room with fireplace, oversized dining room with table, TV and VCR, private boat dock, washer/dryer, outside grill, complete modern kitchen with microwave, dishes, eating utensils, three bedrooms upstairs, large screened porch with view of Deer Creek Lake. Three sets of linens are left for guests, but housekeeping is not provided.

    Getaway Cabins

    • Give the camper cabins a try when you want a more authentic camping experience. Deer Creek State Park has two camper cabins available April through October. The units sleep up to 6 people and offer features like a kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, cook stove, porch, air conditioning, heat and charcoal grill. Campers sleep on cots and use a nearby public restroom with showers. Linens, eating utensils, dishes and housekeeping are not provided. The park also offers one "Rent-a-Camp" from May through October. The site sleeps four people and includes a large tent set up on a wooden platform with a dining fly. Electrical outlets, cooler, camp lights, cook stove, picnic table and fire ring are provided on-site. Housekeeping, dishes, linens and cooking utensils are not provided. Call for current rates and ask for getaway rentals.
