How to List Recent Blog Posts in Your Sidebar on WordPress
- 1). Navigate to the "wp-admin" directory of your WordPress website and log in to the dashboard, which is the back-end editing area.
- 2). Go to "Appearance" from the left-hand menu and click the "Widgets" link to load the widgets screen. Determine which sidebar in the list on the right you want to contain the list of recent blog posts. Expand the sidebar to show its widget contents by clicking on its name.
- 3). Locate the "Recent Posts" widget under "Available Widgets" in the middle column of the "Widgets" screen. Click on its title and drag the gray bar in to the expanded box of the sidebar where you want to place the widget.
- 4). Add a header to your recent posts list if you like by typing some text in to the "Title" field of the "Recent Posts" field. If you do not see the fields for this widget, click the down-pointing arrow next to the widget's name within the sidebar box.
- 5). Change the number of posts the "Recent Posts" widget lists by changing the number in the "Number of Posts to Show" field. You can input any number of posts you want to display, but remember that a long list can appear awkward and is less useful to visitors looking for your blog's newest posts. Click the blue "Save" button to save any changes.
