How to Select a Shaft for a Long Bow

    • 1). Purchase a long arrow to use as a measurement guide. An ideal arrow to use for this step will be 30 inches or greater.

    • 2). Place the arrow on the bow, and pull back to full draw. Perform this just as you would if firing the arrow.

    • 3). Have a friend mark the arrow. The arrow is measured from the bottom of the end nock groove to the forward-most position where the arrow sits on the arrow rest.

    • 4). Add 1 inch from the arrow contact point on the forward-most point of the arrow rest. Mark the arrow at this point.

    • 5). Measure the arrow with a tape measure from the nock groove to the mark your buddy made on the arrow. This is your ideal arrow shaft length.
