How to Grout Bath Tile
- 1). Check to be sure floors and other areas are protected from drips, splatters and spills using painter's plastic sheeting. Mix grout, according to the manufacturer's directions, in a plastic bucket or other large container.
- 2). Working from the top to bottom, and in one area at a time, remove plastic spacers from between tiles. Spread a thick layer of grout over an area of tiles using a notched trowel. Work on a diagonal, aiming to push the bulk of the grout over and into the crevices between tiles until the surrounding spaces are completely filled with grout.
- 3). Repeat Step 2 and continue working, one area at a time. Allow grout to set no more than two hours before proceeding to Step 4.
- 4). Using a damp sponge, gently wipe away excess grout on tile surfaces.
- 5). Apply silicone caulk over tub and sink joints to protect and seal if desired.
- 6). Wait about 30 days or until grout is completely cured according to the manufacturer's directions and apply silicone sealant over grouting to protect from discoloration if desired.
