How to Check a Driving Record
- 1). Begin by logging onto the Unofficial Guide to the DMV website (see Resources below). This website allows users to check driving records in all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
- 2). Click on the appropriate state where the driving license was obtained. For example, if you have a Mississippi license, click on the state of Mississippi found on the map. Doing so will take you to a different page for that particular state.
- 3). Select the "Driving Records" link found underneath the "What Can We Help You With Today?" heading. You will be redirected to a different Web page. It's important to note that which page you are taken to is determined by the state you choose. Every state has a different method for obtaining information about a driving record.
- 4). Read over the new page carefully and select the appropriate link for your needs. Even though each Web page is different for each state, they still contain similar information. This page allows you to obtain your own personal driving record. You can also select a link that allows you to obtain a driving record for employment purposes. Depending on your personal needs, select the appropriate link to continue.
- 5). Enter the appropriate information on the new Web page. Regardless of the state, you will need to know name (exactly how it appears on the license), address, birthday and driver's license number. Some websites will also make you enter a Social Security number for privacy. Once you've entered this information on the website, you will need to enter billing information (such as credit card and address). This process will cost $15 to $30 depending on the state. The information you request should come to you in 3 to 7 days (once again, this depends on the state).
