Ideas for Remodeling My Blue Bedroom

    Modern Flair

    • If you're looking for a contemporary bedroom, you're in luck: Blue is a solid color choice for any room that needs a modern flair. Try incorporating blue glass brick into portions of your bedroom walls. Decorate with antique blue-tinged jugs, jelly jars and soda bottles. You can even install blue covers over your overhead lights to bathe your room in a soothing blue glow.

You'll need to be careful when going ultra-modern, though. Make sure to pick a blue-themed design that you know you won't tire of quickly; you don't want to remodel your bedroom only a year or two after your current project ends. Make sure, too, that you can easily transform your room back to a more neutral style when it's time to sell your home. A modern blue room might actually turn away more buyers than it attracts.

    Country Style

    • Blue also lends itself well to a country style bedroom. If you live on a farm, or have always wanted to, you can easily create a country feel to your bedroom by mixing clean white woodwork and trim with walls painted a light blue. You can also add a mix of light-blue and white dressers and chairs to add to the country feel.

Your bed's headboard provides you with an area in which to unleash your creativity. Consider painting a plain headboard a soothing shade of blue. Add your own stenciled farm houses, chickens, pigs or goats to the headboard to truly evoke a country feeling.

    For the Kids

    • Blue is the ideal base color for a child's bedroom remodeling project. After all, you can turn your son's bedroom into an underseas world complete with ocean-blue walls dotted with sea horses, sharks, whales, crabs and seaweed. Turn your daughter's bedroom into an outer space odyssey by painting silver stars, red planets and blazing asteroids on a field of deep blue inkiness representing the cosmos.
