Depression and Anxiety Treatment - 3 Ways to Restoring Inner Peace and Calm

A friend of mine who is a psychotherapist of the Carl Jung school uses interpretation of dreams as a basis for depression and anxiety treatment.
There are now quite a few therapists who have simplified the interpretation of dreams but this is a treatment which is not suitable for everybody! In this article I want to outline three ways of dealing with these two mental disorders so that we have a better chance of restoring inner peace and calm.
The first way is to recognize that our immune system may suffer as a result of these mental disorders and we should do all we can to strengthen it, whether we are on prescription drugs for anti depressants or simply using a herbal remedy.
One of the best supplements to take to make your immune system stronger is Echinacea because it can benefit the white blood cells which are crucial in fighting off infections, viruses and so on.
Another way is to eat antioxidant rich foods such as fresh fruit and vegetables and also green tea.
The second way to inner peace and happiness is to use self help methods which can get you back on track, provided you set yourself realistic goals.
That can mean either looking after yourself by watching your diet and taking regular exercises.
That fits in perfectly with the first way above because it can also build up our immune system and enhance mood and feelings of well being.
The third way in your own personal depression and anxiety treatment plan, is to learn to laugh again.
Research how shows that the health benefits from laughter are far reaching and much wider than previously suspected.
Again, laughter can build up your immune system, help your pain threshold.
It can also keep the stress hormones such as epinephrine and cortisol in check.
As you can imagine with all that going on, you can see why the so called humor therapy is gaining adherents every day.
Humor therapy through the use of clowns in children's hospitals has proven to be very beneficial for healing.
Depression and anxiety treatment can be a varied mix of self help, lifestyle changes, therapy, medication and alternative treatments for these conditions.
The important thing is to be able to choose what is right for you.
