Update February 26, 2005

Joran Van der Sloot talks to ABC News' "Primetime" in an exclusive televised interview, telling at last his side of the events on the night Natalee vanished. He also speaks of his activities, and those of his friends, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, in the beginning days of the investigation. He denies everything, casting blame on Natalee for her advances to him, and her decision to stay on the beach.

Van der Sloot: If Holloway Is Found, 'I Think I'd Hate Her'(ABC News) for details of the interview. He said that if Natalee's family had not been so "aggressive" when they first met, he might have told the truth at that time. He also called Natalee's mother "Hitler's sister."

Not surprisingly, Natalee's parents dispute Joran's story, calling it lies and pointing out the inconsistencies of his tale. TV commentators point out his flushed face, sweating and roaming eyes during the interview as tell-tale physical characteristics of people lying.

And of course, Joran vehemently denied having anything to do with Natalee's disappearance or death, saying that if he could see her now, he would hate her for the misery she's put him through.

Natalee is still missing.

Update December 04, 2005

Accusations and counter accusations abound. The Aruban authorities are purportedly accusing Beth Twitty of compromising the investigation by revealing confidential information from the investigation to the media, and thus feeding the defense lawyers information they might not have had.

The Holloway family counters that this is just an excuse to justify the lack of progress in the investigation. They add that this is another effort to sweep the whole affair under the rug.

Update December 02, 2005

There is no news concerning the discovery of new evidence in the investigation, however tapes made of an interview with Deepak Kalpoe have been much discussed. Evidently, the interview was several hours long, and conducted by private investigator Jaime Skeeter who was hired by Dr. Phil McGraw of "The Dr. Phil Show," to go to Aruba and interview the suspect. Portions of it have been released, including a question from Skeeters asking if Deepak, his brother Satish and Joran had all had sex with Natalee. A copy of the tape was sent to the FBI for analysis and another to the Netherlands Forensic Institute.

On the original, or what is purported to be the master tape of theinterview, the answer is "yes." However, the Netherlands Forensic Institute analysed the tape and sent their results and a tape to the Aruban prosecutors office. This version of the tape has Deepak answering "no" to the same question. The NDI claims the tape they reviewed had been "manipulated," giving the impression that they were altered.

These tapes and others of interviews with Joran and the Kalpoe brothers in the first stages of the investigation, June 10-13, need to be re-reviwed, states Natalee's mother. She heard translations of the interviews, conducted in Dutch, and is concerned that the lines of communiction with the Aruban authorities has been terminated. Natalee's family has retained an attorney to investigate and try to reopen communication with the Aruban prosecutor's office.

Beth Holloway-Twitty and family continue to apply media pressure on the Aruban government and investiagtors through media interviews. In a segment of the Barbara Walter's show about the most fascinating people of 2004, Beth said that she "buried" Natalee on June 10, but she will forever carry her in her heart and look for answers.

She is determined not to let Natalee's disappearance fade from view, but according to the continuing results of the poll Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, move people are shifting from concern that the investigation will stop to an acknowledgement that Natalee is only one of many, many unfortunate disappearances.
