How to Make & Print Day Cards
- 1). Open your computer’s Paint program, pull down the “Image” menu and click “Attributes.” Set a size for your card, such as 4 inches by 6 inches for a standard mailable card, and click the “OK” button. A blank, white card appears on the screen.
- 2). Click the “Paintbrush” tool, select the medium round brush head and choose a color from the “Color Picker” at the bottom of the screen. Draw the outline of the card design, such as a heart, mortarboard, shamrock or birthday cake.
- 3). Click the “Paint Bucket” tool and click inside the design, which fills with color.
- 4). Click the “Pencil” tool, change paint colors and add details to the drawing.
- 5). Select the “Text” tool, which looks like an “A” on the toolbar. Click below the drawing; if a toolbar doesn’t appear on the card, pull down the “View” menu and click “Text Toolbar.” Choose a font for the card greeting.
- 6). Type the main card greeting, such as “Happy Graduation Day,” “Best Wishes on Father’s Day” or “To my love on Valentine’s Day.”
- 7). (Optional) Reduce the font size and add a personal message.
- 8). Click the “Airbrush” tool, which looks like an aerosol can, select the medium spray head below it and choose a new paint color. Click all around the white space on the card, leaving little bits of confetti. Change paint colors and click more for a rainbow effect.
- 9). Turn on your printer. Insert a piece of cardstock into the print tray and squeeze the paper holder levers to secure the paper in place. Pull down the Paint “File” menu and select “Print.” Choose your printer from the options; it may already be a default. Click the “Print” button to print your card.
