Fragrant Potted Plants

    Size

    • If you have limited space in a room and want to add tiny blooms to the decor that are especially fragrant, geraniums are an ideal choice. The flowers are easy to grow indoors and are available in colors like pink, red or purple. For a larger potted plant display, muscari or grape hyacinth may be a more eye-catching choice, since the flowers are a cone shape and have a bold purple hue.

    Types

    • Different types of fragrant potted plants give off scents in different strengths. For instance, geranium has a rather strong scent that will permeate a small space, but geranium leaves are a little subtler in fragrance. Muscari flowers do not have an overpowering scent, but the sweet fragrance will linger in the room, making the potted plant ideal for the powder room or hallway.

    Considerations

    • A combination of these flowers may work well in a large or open area of your home to give the space a natural perfume. Water the plants often, and keep the flowers in a warm part of the home to keep them thriving and emitting a pleasurable scent throughout the room.
