As a teenager, falling in love can be quite exciting. The whole world may seem to look beautiful, but maintaining a long term relationship, can get very very difficult. Think back to your first crush. Think about your first boyfriend or girlfriend. Do you remember how you felt? Do you remember how your emotions were all-encompassing? At that moment, for everything you felt, you felt it completely, with your entire heart and with all of your young abilities.
There are numerous problems a teenager faces while in love. Some of which are :
Lack of maturity:
Teenage is a period between childhood and adulthood. It is quite natural and normal for a person to get attracted to the opposite sex. Unfortunately, teenagers do not possess that level of maturity, a permanent relationship requires. They do not understand the fact that love is a two sided emotion. It involves giving and taking. It needs time to blossom. If one person is more matured than the other, he expects the same from his partner. It is due to this lack of maturity that most teenage love do not succeed.
Time:
This is another factor that comes in between teenage love. They are so occupied with school, homework, meeting friends etc, that they do not find time for their relationship. This causes a bitter hurt to the relationship.
Future plans:
Ones teens pass out their tenth standard, they begin planning for their future career. The problem starts when the couples ideas do not match. One may move out permanently to another state while the other remains in the same school. All such differences bring an end to their relationship. Most importantly, don't ever act like their love problems are trivial. To them this is the most important thing in the whole world. With their limited life experience they may also feel that if they don't get this right their world will be over. Assure them that you are always there for them no matter what happens.
When you have a teen in your life, whether it be your child, your student, a relative, etc., if they have a trusting friendship with you, at some point or another they are likely to ask you for help with their teenage love problems. When you provide an open atmosphere for the teenagers in your life to express their love problems, you play a crucial role in helping them make the best choices.
The best love advice to teen is to cherish and love yourself, for only when we truly respect and care for ourselves can we care for others. If you are a teenager in love, it's a fun and insightful exercise to write down all of the things that you adore about your boyfriend or girlfriend, and then circle any of the same qualities that you feel that you posses. As humans, we often choose people that we feel are on our level—socially, intelligence wise and in terms of looks. Make sure that your crush can offer you as much as you offer them. That way, you can grow and learn from each other.
