Your Baby Ferret

Once you've decided to get a new baby ferret, it is assumed that you've already done some sort of research about the new pet.
Ferrets are great pets and you can also train them to litter just like cats.
Training can take time but once you're able to achieve it, you can benefit greatly.
When a ferret is still new to your house, you should never leave it unattended.
Try to observe some precautionary measures.
Firstly, you will need a cage that is safe and comfortable.
This is where you will put your ferret when it's still being introduced to your home.
Try to spend some time with your ferret and teach it how to litter.
The success of the training will depend on how much effort and time you devoted to the training process but in most cases, 75% of ferrets learn to use the litter.
Accidents can happen but you can correct them properly.
Training can take a few weeks to months and again, it will depend on the time you've allotted for the training.
Ferrets usually 'go' after eating or after waking up.
During these instances, you need to put your pet inside the litter box so that they can associate the litter with 'going'.
You should do this until your pet learns the whole process.
You can give treats as well.
When accidents happen, you should not physically punish your ferret.
Cleaning up accidents is part of the training process so you need to be patient.
Your home should also be ferret proof.
Make your home a safe place for your pet.
Your new pet is curious and small and it can easily get caught in small spaces.
If the head of the ferret fits a certain space, then its body will fit in as well.
Look for small crevices, holes, or loose covers of ventilation.
Also, check your appliances since ferrets are very curious and great climbers.
Some ferrets get hurt when they are caught in the fridge's fan or when they play with the dryer's tubing.
Check your couches or sofas for loose linings; ferrets can easily hide under the lining and get caught in the springs.
If you decide to open the cage of your pet, keep a close watch.
You can also handle them if you like to develop a strong bond with your pet.
You can allow your pet to wander the house at least twice a day but you should never leave it unattended.
As a responsible owner, you should look out for its safety.
Litter box training takes time but with a bit of patience, time, and effort, you can train your pet.
Don't forget to prepare the cage and pick one that has a plastic base for easy cleanup.
Metal cages with coatings are not good.
Pick the home of your pet carefully and arrange the beddings properly to have enough room for the play area.
Taking care of a ferret can be hard but you will surely be happy to see your pet grow healthy
