Cardigan - Ceredigion is found in Mid Wales, a wonderful location and one that would be a great place to visit.
Close by you can find the River Teifi, and it is the place where you can find the meeting of Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.
Prior to the year of 1974 this location was a county town.
Restoration has been the name of the game lately in this location.
Taking care to replace many buildings to their old and wonderful look.

Originally the town would be found back in 1093.
It was the prime location for many attacks during the past too.
It was Rhys ap Gruffydd that would attack many times trying to gain control of the location from the Normans.
Finally he would succeed in 1165, and he would take care in rebuilding the castle, this time out of stone.
It would remain to be a battle through many years and the Normans would again gain the city.
They would add in some stone walls to add to the defense of the location.
During the Elizabethan times this location was a very important one, since it had a port located in it.
The site of Cardigan Castle would be chosen as the place to hold the first Eisteddfod.
That would take place in 1176, and in two more years there would be other events that would be held here.
Those years would be 1942 and 1976.
Through the years the castle would switch hands to private ownership and would suffer greatly.
It would be a group of volunteers that would raise money and work to get that castle back in the hands of the council.
It would also be one of the buildings they would restore! Here you will find one of the most premier Roman Catholic shrines in all of Wales too.
It is the Our Lady of Taper shrine, the candle that she holds is said to never extinguish.
