The Loden Vancouver Hotel
Loden Vancouver in a Nutshell:
Trendy has arrived in Vancouver, and it’s taken up residence at the Loden Hotel, which opened in 2008. From its Voya restaurant, where young urban professionals cluster by the bar to quaff signature martinis to its guest rooms featuring salmon-colored sofas, it’s got a stylish look likely to appeal to those for whom appearances count most.
Guest Rooms at the Loden Vancouver:
The Loden’s standard rooms are dominated by a king-sized bed backed by a mirrored wall. The bathroom is a bit of a disappointment. Attractively clad in mosaic tile, its centerpiece is a handsome but short bathtub (think Tom Cruise). It’s deep and has a waterfall spigot at the center, but is too small for two normal-sized adults to happily splash in. Under the flatscreen TV is a strip of outlets for various electronics. Rooms include yoga mats from local designer Lululemon, which can be used while watching the hotel’s closed-circuit Moodz channel.
Dining at the Loden Vancouver:
Voya, the hotel restaurant, is a room more corporate looking than romantic. Your waiter, who may introduce himself by name, will start by offering a list of overwrought martinis containing disparate and not terribly compatible ingredients. Don’t be intimidated; stick with what you know and like.
Destination Weddings at the Loden Vancouver:
The Loden Vancouver isn't set up to host a big wedding, but a small reception could be held in its penthouse suite, which has space indoors, outdoors, and a dining area.
For a cocktails-and-canapes event, a maximum of 60 guests can be accommodated. But if you want to use the space for a sit-down dinner, you'll have to whittle your list to 20 guests. Voya restaurant also has a private party room that can seat 18 guests.
Honeymoons/Romance Packages at the Loden Vancouver:
There are no dedicated honeymoon or romance packages offered by the hotel, but you may find specials on the Loden's website.
Facilities at the Loden Vancouver:
New Agey in spirit, the Loden offers some guest rooms with a small terrace that opens to an urban environment. Surrounded by tall office buildings, the interior courtyard has a sinuous waterscape weaving past those rooms. For all guests, the hotel offers an infrared sauna, in-room massages, the Moodz in-room channel, and maintains a fitness studio with cardiovascular equipment and free weights. It is open 24 hours.
Nearby the Loden Vancouver:
The Loden is located in the somewhat non-descript Coal Harbor neighborhood. Robson Street retail is two blocks away and it’s a fifteen-minute walk to Stanley Park.
What Could be Improved at the Loden Vancouver:
The Loden Hotel needs soul.
Is the Loden Vancouver Right for You?:
Pretty young things and the courtiers attracted by them will flit to Loden Vancouver like moths to a flame.
