How do I Troubleshoot 2002 Chevy Trailblazer Sound Systems?

    • 1). Check the battery. Make sure the connections on the battery are clean, free from corrosion and secure. Clean them if they are dirty. Tighten any loose connections. A loose connection might cause the radio to cut in and out.

    • 2). Check the fuses if the radio will not power on. Check for a blown fuse. The fuse box is located below the steering column and the dash trim-panel. A fuse is marked specifically for the truck's stereo. Replace this fuse.

    • 3). Check wire connections on the head-unit and speakers. Look for frayed wires and loose connections. If a wire is frayed, use electrical tape to seal the connection. Reattach a wire if it is loose from its terminal.

    • 4). Check for cracked or broken speakers; these will typically emit a crackling or rattling sound. Examine the cone of the speaker for any cracks. Check the speaker cover; sometimes a loose cover rattles against the speaker. Tighten any loose covers.
