Resort Inns in New Hampshire
- Wentworth by the Sea Hotel & Spa is one of the most venerable resort inns in New England. Located about an hour north of Boston on New Castle Island in Portsmouth, the Wentworth has been in operation since 1874. The inn takes advantage of its coastal location, and most of its rooms and suites provide guests with views of either the Atlantic Ocean or Little Harbor. The inn has two restaurants, an extensive spa, gardens and access to a country club and marina next door.
- Mount Washington Hotel in the state's White Mountains has been in operation since its opening in 1902. The inn is located at Bretton Woods, which has alpine and nordic skiing and is the state's largest ski area. When snow does not cover the ground, visitors enjoy playing at an 18-hole golf course designed by Donald Ross. Guests enjoy a full 25,000-square-foot spa on-site; a zip line near the inn in Bretton Woods; and three restaurants, including a fine-dining Four Diamond restaurant and two bar/lounges.
- The Balsams Grand Resort Hotel is another of the state's historic resort inns in the White Mountains. Located in Dixville Notch in northern New Hampshire near the Canadian border, the inn features distinctive architecture, including a four-story tower. It opened in 1866 and boasts skiing, golf and tennis, as well as extensive boating and fishing options on the nearby Androscoggin River. The inn has three restaurants and an elegant traditional movie theater.
- The Inns & Spa at Mill Falls is a resort that includes four inns, all located in the New Hampshire town of Meredith. The four inns are called the Inn at Mill Falls, Church Landing, Chase House and Bay Point. Church Landing and Bay Point are located on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee and feature a host of activities related to the lake, such as swimming, sailing and fishing. Guests at an inn have access to amenities in the other inns at the resort, such as a spa and swimming pools.
