Commercial BDSM: What Not to Learn from It

BDSM has been around for a long number of years, but not many have been exposed to this world. Today, with several taboos going down the drain and a vast increase in the freedom that we have, BDSM has become a firm part and parcel of the sexual life. Like commercial sex workers, there are some individuals who offer BDSM sex scenarios and roleplays for people. While this is all well and good for people who are conversant with the world of BDSM, there are some people who might have just newly visited the world of BDSM and not know as much about it.
People visiting commercial BDSM works visit them for the same reason that people visit sex workers - which are vast and many. As is the case with people who visit commercial sex workers who tend to have the wrong ideas about sex and sexual intercourse, people who visit commercial BDSM workers tend to get some wrong ideas. Here are some ideas that one should keep out of their mind:

BDSM is not about only discipline: Saying that BDSM is only about discipline is like saying that driving is only about sitting in the car. There are several aspects that make up the BDSM lifestyle, with discipline being just one of them. Make sure that you do not fall for this trap and try to learn more about BDSM before you visit one of those Madame Ms.

BDSM is not only about Pain: Delivering and getting pain is just one part of BDSM. Simply put, BDSM is a lifestyle, which means that it is basically a way of life for people. A few of them are discipline, pain, sexual intercourse, etc, but BDSM cannot be simply considered to be only that.

One does not need a 'Flogger' to be a Dominant: While BDSM is one of the lifestyles which have more symbolisms, it is not only about the symbolisms. A dominant can be as dominant as possible without actually wearing dark colored leather or carrying a thinly oiled flogger. Of course, wearing leather, having a crop of your own, or even owning restraints would tell others that you have more than a casual interest in the realm of BDSM, it in no way increases the expertise that you have in the world of BDSM.

One does not need the Collar to be Submissive: If we consider that a dominant does not require a flogger or leather to actually be a dominant, we would also have to agree that a submissive does not require wearing a collar, or tattooing or branding to lead the life of a submissive. In fact a submissive buys any of those things only when he or she is completely sure that they would like to follow the relationship and lifestyle in a greater depth.
Beating Hurts: Now and then, we watch videos which show a submissive beaten, and all we see is some stylized whip marks, or some lashings, but that is not true. A beating hurts and if not done properly, one might have scars that might even last for the whole life. So, one has to be careful about it.
