Excel Airways is a discount charter airline that originally had branches in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. In 2006 the airline changed its name from Excel Airways to XL Airlines. It offers flights to Europe, North America, the Caribbean, Asia and Africa. XL had a U.K. branch but the company declared bankruptcy in 2008. The French and German branches were purchased by Straumur-Burdaras Investment Bank and remain in operation. - For long-, medium- and short-haul flights, each individual can take one piece of hand luggage. The luggage must not weight more than 11 pounds and cannot exceed the dimensions of 22 by 14 by 10 inches.
- Business class passengers are allowed one piece of hand luggage for long-, medium- and short-haul flights. This hand luggage must not weight more than 22 pounds or exceed the dimensions of 22 by 14 by 10 inches.
- As with all airline travel, the contents of the hand luggage must meet the regulations. Items considered hazardous or dangerous by the International Air Transport Association and the Organization of International Civil Aviation Organization are not allowed in hand baggage. Check with the airlines if you are unsure whether an item is prohibited.
