- 1). Earn a master's or doctorate degree. Some colleges require instructors to have at least 18 credits in accounting if your degree is in another area of study.
- 2). Update your resume to include past work experience, career goals, and your pre- and post-secondary schools. Add career seminars, relevant training programs, or other pursuits that broadened your expertise in accounting.
- 3). Attend any training programs offered by your hiring school. Not all schools require you to do this, but these programs can help to prepare you to teach online. You must feel confident, know how to communicate with your students, and understand how to use software that your online employer uses.
