As a Leader Have You Ever Tried to Wriggle Out of What God is Calling You to Do?
More people attempt to do this than are prepared to admit! Just look at dear Moses in Exodus Chapter 3.
Reticent rebellious Moses tried to wriggle out of the work to which God called him.
God reassures him.
I will be with you like a strong daddy with a frightened child.
Here we see the glorious sovereignty of God.
In a world of change and decay, when men are so fickle, we require the reliability, steadfastness and faithfulness of God.
Our God is so personal.
He is always there with His people.
He is unique.
He is I AM.
You can put in there whatever you require.
That is His Name.
Jesus Christ used it frequently.
I am the light of the world.
I am the door.
I am the vine.
I am with you always! I am your Peace, Healer, Saviour, Encourager, Provider, Comforter, Challenger, the One Who baptises with the Holy Spirit.
Our God is I AM, the light of the world, the bread of life, with you always, the way the truth and the life, the vine, the door, the king of kings and lord of lords, the resurrection and the life.
Moses is told to go to Egypt and assemble all the elders of the people.
Explain to them what I have promised to do.
The elders will listen.
After all that Moses says, "What if they do not believe me? What if they pay no attention?" Here we see man's unbelieving heart, and how patiently reasonable God is, up to a point.
Moses, what is in your hand? A staff.
Throw it on the ground.
It became a snake and Moses ran from it.
God had to get him take it up.
He reached out to lift it by the very tip of its tail.
Moses, stop wriggling and take up this task.
In My Hands you will be as strong and powerful as that rod.
Obedience and reward are related.
It is possible to have a burning bush experience, and a Pentecost experience, as we read of that in Acts Chapter 2, and still argue! Sandy Shaw.
