How Do I Tell the Difference Between 1955 & 1956 Chevrolet?
- 1). Look at the front of the car. The 1955 has a smaller grill. Chevy enlarged it in 1956 and added square parking lights beneath the headlights.
- 2). Examine the gas cap. In 1956, Chevy hid the gas cap behind the chrome on the driver's side tail fin.
- 3). Compare the size of the hood. The 1956 Chevrolet has a longer, flatter hood than the 1955.
- 4). Study the details. A 1956 Bel Air has a single housing around the taillights, and more chrome around the sides than a 1955.
