UK National Lotto Price Increase

UK players finally warming up to the New Lotto

After threatened customer boycotts over the New Lotto format, which for the first time since its launch will increase the price of a National Lottery ticket by 100% from 1pound to 2pound on October 5th, surveys are showing that UK lottery players may finally be coming around to the idea. For weeks now regular lottery players have been voicing their anger at the change, particularly since the British economy remains so week with regular Briton's relative disposable incomes the lowest they have been in decades.

The National Lottery has been defending its actions by claiming that the New Lotto has come at the behest of their customers who have continually voiced the opinion on several questionnaires which have been conducted that they would like to see bigger jackpots like those offered in multi-national lottos like EuroMillions as well as larger smaller prizes so winning is more significant than simply an extra tenner.

The latest surveys show however that on the eve of the New Lotto re-launch at least some UK lottery players are starting to support the change now that they have had a chance to soak it in. The top jackpot prize will be significantly greater than it was while still providing better odds of winning than EuroMillions or newcomer EuroJackpot. And the smallest prize has been more than doubled, from 10pound to 25pound, meaning that at least a win will pay for a nice meal rather than just a cheap round of drinks!
Although it is still hard for many to justify the giant price hike it seems like the fervour is dying down and many British lottery players have resigned themselves to the new price and prizes. One way in which some players are dealing with the new price is simply to form lottery syndicates at work or with friends, a popular way to spread the cost of tickets even when it was only a quid.

We will see on October 5th the extent of the backlash, whether the New Lotto will be embraced or face plummeting sales from outraged players.

Despite the price increase being very un-welcomed by the UK audience, the price increase is somewhat overdue and it is not all bad news. The New Lotto is offering customers more chances to win and increased prizes with the draws on 5th & 12th October promising Jackpots of at least 10pound million each! The price increase will certainly mean bigger weekly jackpot pools along with the addition of a brand new raffle which will guarantee 50 winners of 20,000pound every week, and what is more, if there is no Jackpot winner then the raffle will rollover 2x, 3x, 4x and to a maximum of 5x's resulting in at least 250 winners of 20,000pound every week. The new game will come with the addition of a printed numerical/character code on the lottery ticket [http://newlotto.co.uk/uk-lottery-ticket-price-increase.html] when you purchase in the shop, online or part of a syndicate.
