How to Remove a Radiator From a 95 4Runner

    • 1). Allow the engine to cool overnight prior to removing the radiator so you don't burn yourself on the coolant. Put the drain pan at the bottom of the truck, underneath the radiator. Open the petcock at the bottom using your hands and let the coolant flow into the pan.

    • 2). Unbolt the metal skid plate underneath the engine using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket, then set it to the side. Disconnect the hose for the overflow canister at the top of the radiator by removing the clamp using the pliers. Unbolt the fan shrouds from the engine compartment using the ratchet.

    • 3). Use the pliers to remove the lower radiator hose clamp, then pull the hose off the radiator. Allow it to drain into the pan. Repeat the process for the upper radiator hose. If the hose clamps have been replaced before, you may need to use a flathead screwdriver to take off the clamps.

    • 4). Disconnect the oil cooler lines from the radiator using the line wrench set. Unbolt the radiator from the core support using the ratchet. Hold the radiator at the sides and lift it out of the engine bay.
