How to Make Patriotic Clip Art
- 1). Gather some ideas. Illustrations for patriotic clip art are pretty straight forward. A flag, stars and stripes, fireworks, the word “America” or the initials “U.S.,” a smiley face with a red, white and blue top hat, a dog with a stars and stripes bone and myriad other illustrations can be used.
- 2). Sketch the illustrations on your pad of paper. Make them small and simple. Too much detail is going to get lost in clip art. Use finer tipped pens for finer details, but still keep the details minimal.
- 3). Think shapes. Flags are a simple rectangle. Stars are five triangles surrounding a circle. A fat circle with rectangle on top makes a smiley face with a top hat. Rounded, bubble letters work well for wording in patriotic clip art. A heart can be incorporated in the easy to create the “I love the U.S.” with the heart as the word “love.”
- 4). Color them in. Patriotic clip art works best, of course, if it is red, white and blue. You can color them directly on your sketch pad with crayon, pastels, markers or paint or scan them into the computer and color with a computer program that allows you to paint on your drawings.
- 5). Scan the clip art into your computer. Follow your scanner’s instructions to scan your patriotic clip art into their own file where you can find them easily for future use.
