Affiliate Marketing - The Pinocchio Effect
The little wooden boy lies, and his nose grows! Wouldn't it be great if this were the case with people around us in real life? Just think of it! What if you knew instantly when your child was lying to you (because their little nose grew!)? Now, if you've been pursuing the Affiliate Marketing course of action, imagine if you would (could you see those promoting their offers) the noses growing on everyone who is trying to hood-wink you on the internet.
That would be SO incredibly Awesome that it's hard to even imagine.
No more getting suckered in by the fancy sales page so full of promises (that so rarely come to fruition).
Well, we both know that's not the case, and the swindlers and cheats abound in droves on the internet.
So, what can we ordinary people do about it? Why are we even paying attention to the Affiliate Marketing gammut? I'll tell you why, it's because we're broke! Living paycheck-to-paycheck (regardless of what your annual income may be) will put you into quite a depression, and it becomes almost an obsession to find a way out of the never ending pit of debt that keeps getting deeper, no matter what you do, or what you give up to try to lessen it.
There is nothing worse (ok, so maybe there is, but this is pretty bad) than seeing your car's gas gauge on Empty, but not being able to stop at the gas station because you don't know if there is ANY money left in your account.
You just pray you even make it home on the fumes so you can check your account and scrape together the pennies from your couch cushions so you can try to buy some fuel on the way back to your dead end job in the morning.
Not knowing if you have enough diapers for the baby to last until your next payday! Thus...
we are driven desperately to find another income source, and that's where Affiliate Marketing comes into play.
So maybe you heard someone talking about making a fortune in Affiliate Marketing, or maybe you just stumbled across something on the internet that made it sound like easy money.
In any case there you are reading a sales-page on the next "incredible" money making offer available.
Only, read that sentence again.
It's a SALES-PAGE.
What it's there for is to get you to spend your money (which remember you don't have, so you will be adding to your debt) to buy their program which promises to make you money (but in reality is really only making them money and you more broke!).
Is there money to be made with Affiliate Marketing? I'd have to say absolutely! It's apparent that many do make good money with Affiliate Marketing on the Internet.
So, how do you find the right program? Let me tell you a bit about my story.
1st I've been suckered into money-making programs over-and-over again my whole life.
I grew up in a poor family and was never taught good money-management skills, so have been in debt since I could first get a credit card.
So, it was/is very easy for me to get caught up in the dream of making more money.
I've been involved with everything from MLMs (AW, HL, RLV, ETC) to multiple internet programs.
The problem is that once IN to these programs the ONLY way for you to make any money is to get other people (often times friends and family) SUCKERED into the same program (and/or buying the same products that you were convinced were the "snake-oil" of the minute).
Now, don't get me wrong, many of these companies have GREAT products! (I'm still using the Nutritional Products from one of the MLMs that I used to belong to, and it actually WORKS to reduce the pain from my Fibromyalgia (and even has contributed to being able to sleep more than 3 hours a night!) So I LOVE the product, but honestly it's NOT something I can sell to friends and family as most of the people I know won't give up their coffee or cigarette habits in order to afford the $50/month for good nutrition that will actually help their health and longevity.
(Sorry got off on a rant there, let's move on).
Is this REALLY the way you want to make your extra money? If you felt "SUCKERED" into a program after paying your money, do you really want to make money by suckering other people (who will also feel "SUCKERED" after signing up under you)? That's probably the thing that bothers me most about the majority of Affiliate Marketing out there.
Everyone is simply out to get everyone else to make the same mistakes they did, so that they don't feel so dumb themselves and can potentially make back the money they threw away.
Have I done it myself? Yup, I've tried.
But do you know what, I never felt good about it and was never able to continue with it.
Every time I came to grips with the way I felt after spending money on a program, I knew I could never do something I knew would cause others to end up feeling the same way.
Am I saying there are NO good Affiliate Marketing Programs? Nope, I truly believe there are many great programs that have legitimate products or services to offer and are fully and completely worth marketing (and reaping any rewards from marketing) to others.
However, keep in mind that there are also MANY if not MOST affiliate marketing programs that are nothing but everyone involved trying to scam everyone else they can so they don't feel so scammed themselves.
I'm sure I'll probably find myself under a lot of fire from this article, so I won't be mentioning any names here, but keep in mind that a lot of the so called "gurus" in the internet marketing world are nothing but petty thieves making their wealth from the desperation of those who will try anything to improve their situation in life.
Taking money from the poor and desperate to give to themselves, the already rich (and often greedy, selfish, and immoral).
Lastly, I have to say that I personally know a man who has made millions from the internet.
He's a great guy and goes to our church, and helps in the nursery, etc...
etc...
Not only that this man has made an effort to "help" some of us who are looking for that golden website to start doing some "work" (yes it takes work and time) to lead us toward our goals.
However, even with all that said, he is (apparently) under the assumption that we need to figure a lot of things out for ourselves which unfortunately has led to the failure and crushed-dreams of many (who really needed more than just a point in the general direction).
I say this, so that if any of you "gurus" out there do end up reading this article, take the time to help someone else (in a program that's NOT scammy please!) and SHOW them STEP-BY-STEP how to make the internet marketing lifestyle a reality.
(If I ever figure it out, you can bet I'm going to share.
) In conclusion: Internet Affiliate Marketing CAN be a good thing, and a way to decent income.
Take it from me though, FEW are HONEST and EVEN FEWER are WILLING to take you by the HAND to SHOW you EXACTLY how to build a SUCCESSFUL affiliate marketing business.
Look at each site you visit and program you see with Extreme Scrutiny and before you pull out your wallet Truly THINK about what this program will offer, and if you can in good conscience sell this program to others.
Are you going to be offering others a REAL BENEFIT, or just the rights to be in the "Been Scammed Club" with you? Gotta end for now, but will attempt to break this down a bit more over the coming days/weeks/months.
