Pin-Type Jack Stands

• 1). Place blocks around the wheels of the car that are not being jacked in the air. Using a floor jack, raise the portion of the car you wish to place a jack stand under.
  
  
• 2). Slide the pin out of the jack stand.
  
  
• 3). Grip the saddle on the jack stand and pull it up so it is just below where the floor jack lifted the frame of the car.
  
  
• 4). Hold the jack stand saddle and slide the pin back into its space.
  
  
• 5). Lower the car onto the jack stand.
  
  
• 6). Repeat this process with the other jack stand.
  
  

Ratchet -Type Jack Stands

• 1). Place blocks around the wheels of the car that are not being jacked in the air. Using a floor jack, raise the portion of the car you wish to place a jack stand under.
  
  
• 2). Slide a jack stand under one side of the frame of the car. Raise and lower the handle on the side of the jack stand to lift the saddle at the top of the post until it sits just below the bottom of the frame.
  
  
• 3). Lower the car onto the jack stand.
  
  
• 4). Repeat this process with the other jack stand.
