How to Obtain Business License in Georgia
- 1). Contact the county clerk's office that oversees business activities in your town if you live outside incorporated city limits to determine the type of business license needed to legally operate your business. Contact the city department of revenue or small business administration office to apply for a business license to conduct business within incorporated city limits. Contact your local Chamber of Commerce for the phone numbers and addresses of the county clerk's office or city department of revenue.
- 2). Complete all business license application forms. Documentation such as photocopies of your driver's license or social security card, educational or job training background, employer references or certified copies of business formation paperwork may be requested along with the appropriate filing fees.
- 3). Complete all courses, training or seminars required to obtain a business license and take any licensing exams required by the state of Georgia.
- 4). Purchase a surety bond, worker's compensation insurance or apply for a sales tax license if required.
