With nighttime temperatures that seldom drop below the mid-70s, Liberia, Costa Rica, may be the next hot spot for tourists and locals to party. Liberia, which sits along the pan-American highway and boasts its own international airport, has traditionally served as a gateway to Costa Rica's volcanoes, rain forests and beaches. Recently, Liberia has been steadily growing in terms of nightlife opportunities. Local Costa Ricans--called Ticos--love to party on the weekends and several clubs in Liberia stay open well into the morning. Nightclubs in Liberia, Costa Rica, are less expensive and less popular than clubs in San Jose, the country's capital. According to the "Tico Times Online," a traditional system of addresses does not exist in Costa Rica; therefore, approximate addresses are given for each club. - Elements is a trendy bar with a modern design. Plush décor reflects the theme of the four elements--earth, air, fire and water---and attentive staff cater to the region's recent influx of young professionals. Kuru is not the most upscale nightclub in Liberia, but it is the most popular place to dance to merengue and other Latin beats. Crowds form outside of Kuru as locals and out-of-towners gather to see who has come out to party. The cover charge as of 2010 is around $4 U.S.
