How to Fix Tubeless Truck Tires
- 1). Examine the tire once you have it off the truck. Find the nail or metal object that punctured the tire. Do not remove the nail yet.
- 2). Mark the hole by placing a piece of masking tape under the metal object that flattened your tire. Mark the place with a pen pointing to show exactly where the hole is located. This will help you find the hole again when you remove the metal object.
- 3). Remove the nail from the tire with vice grips or pliers by pulling the object straight up and out of the tire.
- 4). Squeeze 2 to 3 drops of rubber cement onto the tip of the probe. Clean out the puncture. Your repair kit will come with a probe. This is a small round file with a handle. Put this tool into the hole and move it up and down. This will roughen the sides of the tire. This will help the plug adhere to the sides of the tire better.
- 5). Peel the outside wrapper off the tire plug. Locate the tool that resembles a giant needle with a handle. Thread one end of the tire plug through the eye of the needle. Pinch the end of the tire plug to make it smaller so it goes through the eye easier.
- 6). Push the tool end with the tire plug into the puncture hole. You need to exert pressure in order to push the tire plug and needle into the hole. Stop pushing when you have a half inch of the tire plug left on the outside.
- 7). Twist the long needle-like-tool a fourth turn. Pull the tool straight up and out of the hole. The plug will be left in the hole.
- 8). Fill the tire with the proper amount of air pressure recommended for your type of tire.
