In fact, the state of Utah began a mandate in 2008 that made a four-day work week a requirement for state employees to save money on energy costs. The site states that because of the extra day off, employees would likely spend less time surfing the web and doing other mindless tasks to get through the day to produce their same workload to enjoy that extra day away from the office.

• Whether it is a state office or a regular business, the 10-hour day results in longer hours of operation, making it easier for consumers to access services or products. Since many other people still work a traditional schedule, a 10-hour day means they can get off around 5 p.m. and not have to worry about rushing to get to your business or organization before it closes for the day.
