How to Draw an Hourglass
- 1). Trace the outline of the hourglass frame. The frame is flat on the top and bottom, thus draw two short parallel lines. Connect these lines with two columns on either side of the hourglass perpendicular to the bases. Feel free to make some creative designs on the column construction.
- 2). Draw the hourglass inside the frame between the two columns. Starting at the top, draw the traditional, bulbous hourglass shape and bring the figure to a funneled point in the middle. At the middle, draw this same shape mirroring the other half.
- 3). Draw in the sand. An option is to shade in the sand as passing through the hourglass, or distribute it to one half or the other.
